Since we all liked it so much, I’m doing another batch of the Angry Yank IPA – same recipe as last time.
- Length: 25 litres
- Yeast: Nottingham
- OG 1.052
- FG 1.008
- ABV 5.7%
Comments:
23 litres of wort going into the FV, at 13.4Bx = 1.052, so bang on for gravity. In to the fermentation chamber at 21C for a week.
2011-07-16: Dry hops thrown on top and gently stirred in with a sanitised paddle.
2011-07-21: The Nottingham have chomped their way through this one – it’s down at 6.2Bx, which given an OG of 1.052 gives me 1.008. That’s a not-exactly-a-session-beer 5.7% ABV! Dropped the ATC down to 1C to crash cool it – will maybe get a chance to fine it tomorrow, and hope to bottle on Sunday, as I’d like to do another brew then and I’ll need my fermentation chamber back up at 21C rather than down at 1C!
2011-07-24: I never got around to fining, but it’s now in a barrel with 80g caster sugar. I intend to bottle my usual 12 tomorrow.
2011-08-26: Looks like I should have fined it – still quite hazy. Very tasty, though, so I can live with the haze. I stuck the 12 bottles in the fridge with the dunkelweiss when I crash cooled it to see if I can clear them down, but I won’t really care much if they don’t.
