When buying the ingredients for my last brew I noticed that The Malt Miller had Amarillo hops back in stock, so I grabbed a couple of 100g packs with the intention of making another batch of this one, plus something else interesting with the other pack.

Brewday details:

Comments:

Didn’t have any Nottingham in stock, only Windsor and WB-06, so it had to be Windsor.  I also wanted a little more bitterness than the previous batch, so I’ve chucked 10g of Cluster in at the start of the boil, which should add about 10 IBU.

Ended with 25 litres in the FV at 1.051, so almost on the money. 23 litres in the FV, which surprised me – I was expecting far more loss to the hops.  I almost forgot the protafloc, so it only got 5 minutes boil, so I may need to fine this one after dry-hopping.

2012-06-30: Need to rack this – should have done a couple of days ago so I can start the dry-hopping.

2012-07-01: Racked into fresh FV, dry-hops in (boiled!) bag floating in the top.  Should probably have weighted it, but we’ll see how it goes!

2012-07-07: Primed with 100g sugar, bottled the whole batch (42 bottles).  Forgot to take a proper FG, but after priming it was about 1.013, so the target of 1.012 seems plausible, giving 5.2%.  Tastes good going in to the bottle.

2012-07-23: The clear bottle looks bright, so I tried one this weekend.  That’s a fortnight in the bottle.  Could be a little more carbonated, but it’s fizzy enough for me.  Taste is good, better than the last batch.  Fruity, bitter, hoppy => happy brewer!
